Intuitive Artworks

 by

Cheryl Kessler

I experiment with paper of all kinds, acrylic paint and mediums, and other found materials. I’m inspired by early 20th century and contemporary abstract painters and the idea of reusing/repurposing materials that might otherwise be put in the recycling bin or shredder.

Featured Work

Torn Apart is a series of four collages on brown paper bags. Each collage is made from ripped up pieces of my failed artwork, modeled after the “process” Lee Krasner (1908-1984) described in a 1978 interview with New Your Art’s World. The series was part of the Inspired by...Works by Cheryl Kessler exhibit at the Long Island Children's Museum (June-August 2023) and part of a 16 piece solo exhibit at the Eden Prairie Library from September 29-October 30, 2023.
